Paranormal Powers, Truth and taking Non Dual-Responsibility (huh?)

I’ve been thinking about something close to my profession or at least lingers around it lots. And that’s paranormal powers, personality typing including reading people, astrology and other ways to find an overall classification for trying to understand us all (including self).

Some folks claim I have “reading” abilities and I guess it looks that way when you are untrained, under practiced in self observation and self confession and darn right wanting solutions and answers to your questions and feel insecure in dealing with finding the answers yourself.

This may seem as an attack on such things, yet I feel Truth is un-attackable so what’s the big worry anyways.

I’ve looked into many ways of understanding our personalities including eneagram, astrology, palm reading, face reading, meridian analysis, card readings of all kinds, personality typing, chinese astrology, western and Indian Vedic astrology and the list goes on….

I’ll cut to the chase…..it’s all hogwash.

We are all the same in so many ways.

We are fearful of this sameness and something inside wants to be “unique” and unclassifiable and that impulse to “show or display” our uniqueness actually undermines our true uniqueness and warps our personalities to find a fit with it’s surrounding personalities (or the opposite in the sense of rebellion).

We do this warping to fit in as we are mammals and do better fitting in(somewhere at least, even if it’s with fellow rebels) rather than going solo.

So in short our personalities are basically the same on so many levels and we do know it regardless of owning that knowing.

Thus my assertion is that any of these typing methods from “occult” to “scientific” are matchable to anyone from anywhere and regardless of what “sign” we read about or are told about at parties (“Libra….well let me tell you about Libra….”).

Regardless of what ‘Sign” your birthday corresponds to, you have the qualities of each and every astrological sign in you, thus the uncanny at times feeling of “this reading is so accurate.”

We have the human range of experience within us each thus regardless of the sign, you have those signs, tendencies, blind spots and gifts.

I believe auspicious days are the ones where we do some good work, give our gifts and are earned by self effort and surrender.

Listen to me please, I would love to have accurate sign posts to help guide my journey though life and deal better with life’s curves, yet I also want to live in what is True and real, even if it costs me my hopeful superstitions, externalizations of responsibility and “fill in the blanks (with my desires please)” by invisible forces.

Ok now if you like entertainment that’s great and a sense of the mystical hand behind things but after almost 30 years on the spiritual circuit, I’ve come to the current conclusion that we are it- yes we- and it’s my own responsibility to carve life out how I can, the best I can and learn along the way.

For me True Spiritual experiences are ones that reveal Truth and many times that truth erodes something that you thought was real and now is falling away, sometimes crashing away.

Truth doesn’t give and mostly takes away.

It’s what left when we let it take away all notions we have about anything-including my own current notions above I might add

Can we live without portents and visions from simple to extraordinary(brought on by visionary plants.

I had a “seer” friend who had a vision of me that he really want to share with me out of his love and that vision saw me in challenging times. His intent was good yet what was funny was his whole (extensive) vision was all based on some info he had about me which was inaccurate and not real. He had created a whole vision based on unreal facts and jumbled communications. The vision all of a sudden was unreal as it was false- based on false assumptions, presumption, inaccurate knowledge and emotional care for me- so even love itself can be dangerous when we think our powers of seeing are real (or anybody else’s occult powers).

Let’s get real and live from the current common sense, experience and courage we already have. My experience is we’ll get much further ahead on the spiritual path by dropping hopeful pointers for honest revelation and resolute actions.

If in the NonDual traditions which assert there is no self, no doer, no time space and we are but apparitions appearing as individual consciousness, and if you (or myself) aren’t experiencing this yourself now then I’ll keep going ahead and take responsibility for this appearing self-now.
